# Welcome to the Future of Web Publishing!
I believe the best way to learn is to learn by doing! The PubWriter Sandbox is a set of 10 tutorials (and more for advanced users) that allows you to see 'under the hood' of your PubWriter page to see in real-time how what you type appear on your own site.
**THE LEFT SIDE OF THIS PAGE IS EDITABLE.** Try it!
It's intended to show you just how easy it is to edit your own site. When you have an account with us, it really is this easy!

## The first **Save to Publish** website builder for Sync.
A free sync account will always suffice. We can have you up and running within minutes.
1. Create your [free Sync](https://pubwriter.com/sync) account if you don't have one already
2. Install the [Sync app](https://sync.com/install) on your PC, Mac, iOS device (and/or all 3) you want to edit your pages from.
3. Install a plain text editor (most are free and [here's](https://pubwriter.com/editors) my recommended list) or use [VSCode](https://vscode.dev/)
4. Sign-up with PubWriter to get access to a special folder where your website files will reside.
5. Create and/or edit your pages. When you click save, your work is automatically published to your own website within 30-60 seconds.
We'll start you out with a set of common pages that you can edit. It's why we call PubWriter a 'turnkey' solution. Your site will be pre-built, you just jump in and make changes to reflect your own.
***We offer both DIY and Full-service options.***
You will need to learn markdown to edit your pages. Markdown has been around since 2004 and is used on millions of websites. Once you learn it, you'll love it. It's the digital minimalists preferred way to write content on any device.

### What is this crazy looking formatting?
It's **[Markdown](https://pubwriter.com/markdown)** and you will soon discover why it's so great!
PubWriter creates a distraction-free writing environment. Most PubWriter sites are minimalist by design, but there's no limit to what you can do as you learn more HTML.
What you type is rendered on the webpage on the right. When you have a PubWriter site, it works in a similar way - except that you will be directly from your own PC/MAC (and it will be automatically updated on your own website!)
> PS: In order to maintain proper formatting of your website, never remove the first line: `
`.
Markdown is what this formatting is called and been around since 2004. You will be shocked how easy it easy to pick up.
While there are dozens of markdown editors available, all you need is a plain text editor (Note: MS Word is **NOT** a plain text editor). There are also web-based editors, but the beauty of PubWriter is that you can work locally on your own computer and what you save is automatically published.
> You CAN use MS Word, Pages, or Google Docs - but before the file will be ready for your PubWriter site, you'll need to use the [PubWriter Converter](https://pubwriter.com/converter).
Once you learn markdown, you'll find it's the fastest way to write and publish anything to the web. You'll wonder why nobody showed you this years ago!
